Basic principles are:

  1. Everything that says stuff like +50% attack bonus is additive Attack Bonus
  2. Everything that says stuff like +50% damage is a multiplier
  3. Take all additive stuff and sum it together into one big multiplier. Multiply Attack value by that and all multiplicative modifiers, and you get the damage.
  4. Damage Cap is applied in the end. Impenetrable Shield blocks all the damage from the first attack, no matter what the end result of the attack calculation, and ghosts receive always only one point of damage per attack.


Scenario 1:[edit | edit source]

Meraldon (red paladin, base attack at level 75 = 160) attacks red orc.

Modifiers:

  • Plus modifiers from abilities (2* Mightyblow): 0, 0.25, or 0.25 + 0.25 depending on if there is empty space behind the orc.
  • Hero bonus: Randomly 0-25% -> multiplier 1-1.25


Without hero bonus the attack value is:

  • 160 if the orc can move two spaces backwards
  • 1.25 * 160 = 200 if the orc can move only one space backwards
  • 1.5 * 160 = 240 if there is an obstacle directly behind the orc.


With the hero bonus the final attack value is then in the above scenarios:

  • Between 160 and 200
  • Between 200 and 250
  • Between 240 and 300


Scenario 2:[edit | edit source]

With Juniper (5* green druid) as leader, Willow (green archer) has base attack at level 75 of 1.25 * 420 = 525. Assume that they have been hit with weakening poison and that they have not attacked on the previous round. They attack a blue scorpion from 4 spaces away in a Travelling Caravan battle (Sandstorm modifier applies).

Modifiers

  • Plus modifiers from abilities (sniper, sniper, prepare): 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 => multiplier 1.75
  • Color bonus (green attacking blue): +50% => multiplier 1.5
  • Weakening Poison: -50% => multiplier 0.5
  • Ranged attack in Sandstorm: -50% -> multiplier 0.5
  • Hero bonus: Randomly 0-25% -> multiplier 1-1.25

Without hero bonus the attack value is: 525 * 1.75 * 1.5 * 0.5 * 0.5 = 345.

The final attack value with the hero bonus is then something from 345 to 431.

Scenario 3:[edit | edit source]

With ascended Flamescale (5* red knight) as the leader, Idril (red Assassin) has base attack at level 75 of 1.35 * 700 = 945. They attack a green Golem that has another Hero standing on the opposite side. Moreia (red princess) and Sapphirecrown (blue princess) are supporting Idril.

Modifiers:

  • Plus modifiers from abilities of Idril and supporting heroes (slay construct, backstab, majesty, majesty, pact of fire, finishing blow, finishing blow): 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.5 (+ 0.25 + 0.25) => multiplier 2.75 or 3.25 depending on if the higher damage is enough to kill the monster.
  • Color bonus (red attacking green): +50% => multiplier 1.5
  • Hero bonus: Randomly 0-25% -> multiplier 1-1.25


Without hero bonus, if the attack is enough to kill the monster, the damage is 945 * 3.25 * 1.5 = 4607

The final attack value with the hero bonus is then something between 4607 and 5759.

If the damage is not enough to kill the monster, the damage done is only between 3898 and 4873.
